Six hundred years after the world destroyed itself in a nuclear war, civilization has been reborn. Citizens possess supernatural gifts and are governed by the nine most powerful and immortal beings, the Aevii.

Kansis Willow is an outsider in this new world. Where couples are paired by blood before birth, she has been rejected by her own mate and lives in isolation. Kansis buries herself in her work: helping Pods who have been frozen for over six hundred years as they acclimate to the new world. Every day is predictable and lifeless until her newest Pod reveals a century-old secret.

To discover the implications of this secret, Kansis has to leave her hometown, join a traveling circus group, and question all she has been taught. As she learns more about her world through the eyes of her Pod, Kansis has to decide whether she’ll hold firm to all she’s ever known or jump into a deadly adventure with the strangers she now calls friends.

"It's the best book I've ever read!"

Nowhere Times

"The healers say it’s essential that they wake themselves, so we watch from behind the mirror. No matter how often I watch the Pods regain consciousness, I feel sorry for them. At least when you’re a baby, you have the healer’s hands and then your parents, but not in a Re-awakening.
You’re all alone for that."
