A world built on perfection.

A warlord whose return could shatter it all.

Four lives bound.

For six centuries, the utopia of Elusis has thrived—a society of supernatural Gifts, peace, and prosperity. But beneath the surface, secrets stir. Arkarian Story, a long-lost warlord, lies frozen in a hidden cryo tank, his name a whisper of fear and rebellion. His awakening could destroy everything.

Kansis, isolated and rejected, longs for freedom. Pypen has chased the warlord’s shadow for eight years, risking everything. Flister, an immortal, fears the cost of Arkarian’s return. And Amelia, a girl out of time, holds a secret that could tip the balance.

When their paths collide at the heart of a traveling circus, buried truths emerge, and the lines between ally and enemy blur. The warlord’s legacy looms—bringing danger, betrayal, and a promise of death.

About
Bonivon Dyer

Meet the Author

Hi, I’m Bonivon Dyer—sci-fi/fantasy author, loud keyboard enthusiast, and longtime teller of tall tales. I grew up in Truckee, California, where the mountains gave my imagination room to run wild—and honestly, it never stopped.

I’ve been writing stories since I was a kid and finished my first novel at sixteen. But the spark that lit the fire for The Blood Maker’s Fables—and the world of Elusis—came from a dream. I dreamt I lived in a world where everyone was married… except me. My match had refused to marry me, and I was humiliated. That strange ache, that quiet sense of patheticism, stuck with me. So I started writing it.

Thirteen years later—after dozens of restarts, failed drafts, plot holes, soul-sucking self-doubt, financial dead ends, and one too many shower breakdowns where I cried harder than the faucet—I finished it. And I’m publishing it. It’s one of my greatest creative triumphs, and I’m not even going to downplay it. It would’ve been easier to give up. But I didn’t. Cheers to you, Obstacles. You tried hard. But I won.

My writing digs into themes I care deeply about: true courage, identity, manipulation, the lies we tell ourselves, and the quiet bravery it takes to face who we really are—both the triumphs and the wounds. We all want to show the trophies and hide the scars. But the wounds are part of the truth, too.

If you’re someone who longs to get lost in a new world, who wants to fall in love not just with characters but with the cultures, the systems, the strangeness of it all—you’re my kind of reader. I imagine you might be a fellow dreamer, maybe even a world-builder yourself. Writers, artists, singers, sketchbook-stuffers. People who commune with the creative.

My writing heroes are J.K. Rowling, Patrick Rothfuss, Brandon Sanderson, Pierce Brown, J.R.R. Tolkien, Francine Rivers, Erin Montgomery, C.S. Lewis, S.E. Hinton. For craft, I’m shaped by Donald Maass, Steve Almond, Anne Lamott, Claudia Hunter Johnson, and Will Storr.

What do I hope my stories leave you with?

Hope. Excitement. Awe. That sense that something just cracked open your neatly folded world and made you feel something—maybe even something you didn’t know you needed.

I finished the book. It was amazing. I wish I could have my memory erased so I could read it for the first time again."

"The healers say it’s essential that they wake themselves, so we watch from behind the mirror. No matter how often I watch the Pods regain consciousness, I feel sorry for them. At least when you’re a baby, you have the healer’s hands and then your parents, but not in a Re-awakening.
You’re all alone for that."
